Massa jenis (density) adalah massa tiap satuan volume. Material-material yang sering kita jumpai, memiliki massa jenis yang berbeda. Misalkan kayu yang memiliki massa jenis yang berbeda dengan baja. Massa jenis ditandai dengan satuan-satuan seperti: kg/m³, g/cm³, lb/in³, dan lain-lain.
